Remix!

I hit the remix lottery for the second year in a row and got a FANTASTIC remix.

Fall Away (Instrumental) It's a remix of Fall Away. (Both are John Sheppard/Cameron Mitchell, R).

As I said in my comment to the story, it's really the kind of remix everyone secretly hopes they get when they sign up. It's got hints of the original story, but it totally stands on its own. The differences and changes really just make it a fantastic story - it has some great lines and character insight.

Yay!

I hit the lottery with mine, too. It just makes me so happy. You can see the original in this, but the remixer just made it so much more. I couldn't be happier with it. :D

Oh yay! It's always great to get a fun remix story!

When/how does one get involved in one of these? I'm slowly getting up the guts to attempt/risk something like this, but I'm scared to jump in feet-first without at least knowing that there is water of some depth at the bottom.

This is the biggest one, though some fandoms have their own. Sign ups are in the spring sometime and you get a few months to write a story.

If you aren't sure you want to jump in without trying a remix first, remix a friends fic - ask if they mind and then try a hand at it. It's a lot of fun - it's a great challenge.

The main rules of remix are - the story has to be complete, cannot be the one safe story you are allowed to mix, and you have to keep pairing/plot the same. Everything else can change.

That is just gorgeous - thanks for the link! I loved the pacing, and the wa she keeps it in the scene even without dialog. Great writing...

I know! I was super excited. I loved the little changes and the idea that it was instrumental. I never thought of remixing a dialog fic like that - very great take.

Yay!
