1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot Chocolate! Egg Nog is icky and may be poison. It tries to tell you it is by the taste.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Definitely wrapped and under the tree.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
When I was a kid it was white inside, colored out. My husband is ALL about the white lights, so its white inside and I got him to put red on a bush this year.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Nope.
5. When do you put your decorations up?
The weekend after Thanksgiving so we have as long as possible to enjoy the trees!
6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
Twice Stuffed Baked Potatoes and Stuffed Tomatoes.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Dividing up the christmas ornaments. My mom would unpack them all, and my sister and I each had our own ornaments and then there were the "family" ornaments and my sister and I would spend like an hour taking turns picking and negotiating who got to put which ones on the tree. It was awesome.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
Elementary school. I remember I was shopping with my mom and it just hit me and I was like "omg there is no santa" and she was like "don't say that so loud!"
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
All family gifts get opened on Christmas Eve. Santa gifts are the only thing you open on Christmas Day! (or at my in laws, nothing on christmas eve, everything on Christmas day).
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
Andy fluffs it up and puts the light on, and while he is doing that, I sort the ornaments on the table in order they should go on the tree (i.e ones we love and should be on the one front of the tree and have special meaning and ones that are really just going on for ballast) and then we decorate. (that is the main tree, I put all the balls on the smaller ball only tree, and Andy decorates the small tree he surprised me with my first year of law school when I was all sad that I didn't have a tree).
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
LOVE IT!
12. Can you ice skate?
Yup. I even used to compete.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Necklace Andy gave me my second year of law school. It's an "a" and I still wear it all the time. And he picked it out all himself.
14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Spending time with family. Living so far away its one of the few times a year I really get to spend a lot of time with them. For the last 8 years we have swapped Christmas every other year from my family to Andy's so this year it's my in laws, but thankfully I am blessed in my in laws and its always wonderful to spend the time with them.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Cookies of all kinds - thumbprints, sugar cookies, snickerdoodles, gingersnaps, orange/cranberry/chocolate chip!
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Putting up Christmas. Andy and I have the best traditions. I simmer cinnamon, orange peels, and cloves (my mom's tradition) and we decorate and listen to holiday music and take a break for the OSU/Michigan Game.
17. What tops your tree?
A faceless Angel that my sister made and I am to scared to put on a face on it lest I ruin it. My other tree has a gold star topper that was on my grandparents tree.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
Giving. I LOVE buying gifts for everyone.
19. Candy Canes?
Peppermint Bark is better.
20. Favorite Christmas show?
Not really a fan.
21. Saddest Christmas song?
THE CHRISTMAS SHOES. OMG.
22. What is your favourite Christmas song?
Christmas To Remember. I grew up listening to Kenny and Dolly's christmas album and it took Andy pointing out that the song was totally about a slutty christmas hookup but I don't care. My mom bought the record (yes, record) in 1984 and it was always playing. That and the Muppets Christmas Album. I love them all. We used to rotate those two records.
23. Favorite Christmas movie?
Miracle on 34th Street.
24. How long do you leave up Christmas decorations?
They go down January 2nd. No exceptions. Everything is sorted, organized, boxed, and away by the end of that day.
25. What kind of cookies do you leave for Santa?
We don't. We always have had dogs. :-)
