Of the same kinds, class, or nature

Life has been a little crazy, but I did have time to make Christmas Cookies this weekend. Yesterday I made mint thumbprint cookies with Hershey Kisses in the middle (yum, but I kinda put in too much chocolate, so they are really fudgy), Chocolate Peppermint Cookies, and Dark and White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies. Today I made Gingerbread Men, Ninjabread Men, and Sugar Cookies with Royal Frosting. The Royal Frosting was . . . more effort than I anticipated and I didn't really have the right tools, so I just kinda gave up and you can tell by the later decorated cookies. :-)

We got up at 7:30 a.m., walked to the ACME(our cars were snowed in already!) to get provisions to make cookies (I got the last dozen eggs!) and I just had a fantastic day. We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast, watched a little TV, played in the yard with Sam, I baked like 24 dozen cookies (and I have some dough for snickerdoodles chilling over night), we played Star Trek Scene It that we got for Christmas from my mom (she wanted us to open our gifts early) and all in all, it was a great work free snowed in day!

Under the cut I have pictures of the snow (omg over two feet!) and the Cookies. And Sam! :-) This is the most snow we have gotten since we moved to Delaware over 5 years ago! I love it! I miss snow!

Happy Holidays! (Sam will be sleeping hers off for a few days - being chased by a toddler is a new and exciting experience.)

We decorated our house the weekend after Thanksgiving, but I totally forgot to post pictures, so those are below!

I also made holiday cookies this weekend:

(1)Chocolate Peppermint Cookies. I've made these last year, and the year before. This year? They were totally flat. Still yummy. But flat.

(2) Cranberry, Orange, & Dark Chocolate Chip - my FAVORITE. This year I used chopped up dark chocolate and fresh cranberries (so much better than dried! The flavor was awesome). Definitely doing that again next year.

(3) Traditional Sugar Cookies!

(4) Gingerbread Men. I have been wanting to try these since I saw them. I used their modifications, and I modified further so I could use my stand mixer. I also refrigerated the dough before I rolled it out. They were SO NOM.

I made my first batch of holiday cookies tonight and except the chocolate macaroons, everything came out perfectly!

This year I made - Cranberry/Orange/Dark Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Thumbprints, Sugar Cookies, Chocolate Macaroons, Coconute Macaroons, and Chocolate Peppermint Cookies. I have plans to make more next week, but I figured in case I had to work, I would get my favorites done early.
