- Because she is awesome, medie gave other people presents on her birthday! For me she wrote When the Festival Came to Town. A Murder, She Wrote/Nancy Drew crossover! With Nancy Drew/Frank Hardy, and Seth Hazlett and Jessica Fletcher! Seriously. :-) And it's AWESOME.

- I'm writing fic! Bates, Weir, post season 3 genfic. Yay!

- I finally gave in and pre ordered Harry Potter this past weekend. I'm not worried about my flist spoiling, I'm more worried about CNN or news. It took me a few months to get around to reading HBP, and I stayed unspoiled, but I think this time it might be harder.

- I am still behind on comments and emails, but I should be able to catch up tonight.

- I've been on a serious historical romance kick lately. I've re read pretty much every Amanda Quick book in the last two weeks. I love her books, it's just reading them all in a few days highlights how formulaic they are. Also, she went a bit over board with the lasers, and alchemy, and paranormal stuff for a while. And the weird societies. She does that in her Jayne Ann Krentz books as well. I also re read everything I owned by Julie Garwood, Eloisa James, and Joan Wolf. ::loves::

- We ordered Season 1 of The Closer the other day. I'm excited to watch it.

- ETA: trobadora reminded me! For the Doctor Who people, there is a Ten/Jack fest going on over at wintercompanion! I created the banner and the layout. It should be a lot of fun!

(1) I finally managed to catch up on back comments yesterday! Woohoo! I'm finally feeling 100% better, and I'm really hoping the IV bruises go away soon - I hate having to explain them.

(2) sg_flyboys has 21 people signuped! I was hoping for 16! And it's a nice mix of authors and artists.

(3) Fandom has eaten my brain. I was talking to smittywing about some pictures she took of my dog and her cat and I was like "Oh! I have to get the Sam/Marlowe pics developed!" So now I'm shipping my dog and her cat. It's totally one sided, from the dog's POV, but I think Marlowe could come around. :-)

(4) In an effort to convince me that I should change my little black dress of fandom from Sam Carter to Elizabeth Weir, daisycm83 wrote a bunch of drabbles and snippets here.. Elizabeth/John, Elizabeth/Jack, Elizabeth/Cam, Elizabeth/Caldwell, Elizabeth/Daniel, Elizabeth/Lorne, Elizabeth/Ronon, Elizabeth/Stick (it's not dirty), and my personal favorite, Elizabeth/Hammond.

(5) smittywing wrote Socially Acceptable Behavior (The White Men Can't Rap Remix) for the gateverse remix. It's an awesome fic because it's written entirely as LIMERICKS. Seriously. Even if you don't like John/Rodney, you have to go read this. It's a remix for eleveninches, and it's set post Irresistible

(6) In other things you should be reading news, synecdochic is writing an AU Mini!Jack, Cam Mitchell story and it's very, very fantastic. Normally I steer clear of WIP's but this one is just so worth it. The story is called Take These Broken Wings, and you can find Part 1 here and Part 2 here. I'm eagerly waiting for the next installment.

(7) reccea is coming to visit for the weekend, and smittywing is coming up as well. And bringing Marlowe with her, hopefully this time he won't spend the entire time time I'm around hiding under the bed. :-) Also, by the end of the weekend, smittywing will have spent more time in my house in the last two weeks than I have!

I met wojelah when this was about half done, and I spent a lot of time talking to her about this story. It is amazingly well plotted, realistic, totally in character, and she just took her time writing and crafting and it shows.

(1) I'm getting really good feedback on my Remix story and that makes me gleeful! No one has guessed it's mine yet, but that's not actually surprising. The person whose story I remixed left the nicest comment and I keep going back to look at it cause it just makes me SO HAPPY.

(5) tielan wrote hilarious team fic. It's John, Rodney, Ronon, Teyla, and Cadman having a private conversation in public and the banter is just spot on perfect. I was grinning the entire fic.

(6) miss_porcupine wrote two five things responses that everyone should read -- 5 Superhero Powers John Would Love to Have and 5 Times Atlantis Had To Send Someone Home". The first is just fun and the second made me teary (but in a good way.)

(7) inlovewithnight wrote a fic with Faith in Atlantis and it's just so much fun! Cadman and Faith are BFF's and there is banter and just Yay!

Remix stories are live!

"Someone" wrote me: Visitors From the Edge (The Edith Keeler Must Die Remix), a remix of my McKay/Cadman story Time After Time.

It is so FANTASTIC and here are the reasons why:

(1) Edith Keeler - really any story that mentions Edith Keeler in the title already wins in my book.
(2) It's Bates POV.
(3) It is a perfect compliment to the original story
(4) BATES
(5) Cadman is snarky and it hits on exactly how I see the McKay/Cadman relationship.
(6) The writer managed to keep the fact they got me in the remix a secret!

I figured out who wrote it from reading the title, and the fact it's BATES POV, and I just have to say how impressed I am with the author for managing to keep this a secret from me. I talked to them for HOURS before the stories were due, blathered on about my story a lot, and they still held back.

And the fact it was this person who wrote it made the story even better! It was clearly written by someone who knows me and my quirks very well. Bates + McKay/Cadman + Star Trek and Doctor Who references? AWESOME.

SO YAY! Person who shall remain nameless THANK YOU! (I'm not saying who it is, but anyone who has been on my flist long enough can probably figure it out - shhhhh!)
